The BBC show Volcano Live (yeah, I know!) is showing plenty of Iceland at the moment.

Yesterday they showed Eyjafjallajökull, in all her ferocity, including lots of shots of people sleeping on airport floors.

Today, its going to be Heimaey in Westman Islands. I was there a couple of weeks ago. I was stunned by what I saw. For example, this was taken in ‘Pompeii of the North’ an excavation site on the edge of the town.

Inside, you could see a house preserved from 1973, including a bowl left behind by the occupants. It was kind of sad, to be honest.
