Rauðasandur Festival

Just found out about this. It looks amazing. (I’m checking flights and work schedules!).

From the website – ‘Founded in 2011, Rauðasandur Festival is a music and events festival set in the stunning scenery of Rauðasandur (Red Sands) of the West Fjords of Iceland. The festival takes place during the first weekend of July each year when Iceland enjoys the bright summer nights and the sun never sets, but rather lingers behind the mountains for a while creating orange, pink and purple hues in the sky before rising again.

Rauðasandur Festival focuses on country, blues, folk, reggae and anything in between, as well as great outdoor activities such as beach volleyball, sandcastle competitions, yoga, hiking and whatever people can think of in this amazing scenery.

Performers in 2012 include Lay Low, Snorri Helgason, Prinspóló, Low Roar, Johnny Stronghands, Ylja, Smári Tarfur, Myrra Rós and Ásgeir Trausti with a special off-venue performance in the church Saurbær (next farm) by the band Andvari, launching their exclusive organ-tour.’
